Bell's Sweep helmet is a top of the line helmet that you'll see a lot on serious racers of both mountain and road bikes. At $135 MSRP, you can find a lot of cheaper helmets, but none that match the Sweep's level of quality in construction and design.
If you've got the money to spend for a top-notch helmet, this is one you'll be happy with. Reach for it if you can, but if you don't want to drop that kind of dough on a hat, you can certainly find one that'll suit you and do the job for half the price if you're watching a budget.
Streamlined for 2009
The Sweep has been a Bell mainstay for a number of years now, one of the most popular helmets offered by the company. And for good reason - it's a favorite of both road and mountain bike riders due to its terrific design which combines a featherlight feel with maximum ventilation yet plenty of strength to do its job in protecting your noggin.
In 2009, Bell has taken its two sweep models (the XC and the R) and rolled them together into one model, called simply the Bell Sweep, no other designators. With a removable visor and easy-to-adjust fitting system controlled by a dial in the rear of the helmet, the Sweep will be comfortable for you the first time you wear it. Any further adjustments needed are a snap and can be made on the fly and in a matter of seconds.
Plenty of Ventilation to Keep You Cool

There is a lot to like about the Sweep. At the top of the list are the 20 vents which scoop the wind, channeling it up and over your head and out the rear, which is both aerodynamically efficient and highly effective at cooling at the same time. Plus, its light weight makes it extremely comfortable, with what few contact points there are smartly designed to distribute the helmet load and avoid points where rubbing or constriction could occur.
For head protection, the Sweep features uses Fusion In-Mold Microshell technology, coupled with internal skeleton reinforcement that combine to make it extremely strong yet very light, able to take a blow in the event of a crash, absorbing force in the helmet itself instead of transferring the brunt of the impact to your head.

- Sizes: Small, Medium, Large
- Weight: 9.9oz./280g
- In-Mold Bottom Wrap - a smart detail that provides reinforcement in the bottom back of the helmet to protect the rear of the head and the rear of the helmet itself, adding major improvement to the durability and aesthetics to the bottom back of the helmet. By bonding Microshell material to the lower half of the helmet, now you've got covered up what on most helmets is a less durable, exposed EPS foam. If you've ever had a helmet that the styrofoam get beat up and fell apart in the back, this design feature by Bell eliminates that problem.
