Washington D.C. is a great place to ride a bike. From the famous monuments and memorials of the national's capital, to the green space of the National Mall, to the area's many bike paths and trails. Share your favorite rides in Washington, D.C. Share Your Favorite Place

As a former bike commuter in D.C, I would also recommend hitting the trails of the Rock Creek Park....one of best kept secrets. You can access it by riding behind the Lincoln Memorial, and swinging around the potomac and then UNDER the Kenedy Center (which is pretty cool). Once you're on this trail, you'll ride along the C&O Canal and then get merged into the Rock Creek Park path, which if you follow it for a couple miles, (while riding under some amazing WPA bridges) and eventually you'll be able to get to the National Zoo and the really neat Cleveland Park neighborhood! Definitelly worth the ride. Here's a couple of interesting links about Rock Creek Park and other bike accessible environs http://www.nps.gov/history/nr/travel/wash/dc2.htm http://www.nps.gov/history/nr/travel/wash/dc7.htm
