Slime tube sealant--whether sold as Slime brand inner tubes with the sealant already inside, or else sold separately in a bottle of sealant that you squirt into your current tubes--is intended to keep you from getting flats. The sealant coats the inside of your tube and if a leak or puncture occurs, the sealant fills the hole and clots inside to clog it up. Have you used the Slime sealant, and did it help keep you from getting flats? Share your experience with others. Share Your Experience

slime tubes and sealant

I mountain bike in the area of McDowell Mt. Park (where the Competitive Loop is) in the Sonoran Desert, east of PH. If one isn't using tubeless tires, slime is a necessity because cholla, and other cacti spines, are everywhere. When I finally had to replace a slime tube after 6 months or so, it was filled with spines that went through the tire & had broken off. Slime works and the reason some don't use it is because they worry about weight. I have even used it to repair flats while on the trail.
