The Tour DuPont was a stage race held in the United States held between 1991-1996. Though its primary sponsor, DuPont intended for it to become comparable to the Tour de France in prestige and level of competition, it was discontinued after Dupont dropped its backing after the '96 race.
Run through the mid-Atlantic states around DuPont's Delaware headquarters, the event featured top European teams and strong American talent, including Greg LeMond and Lance Armstrong in his early days of racing with the Motorola team.
