Guide Review - Ibex Fausto Wool Cycling Jersey

Back when I was dumb, I associated wool with such unpleasant adjectives as hot, stuffy and itchy. As in the wool sweaters your grandmother may have given you. Or the wool socks your mother made you wear when it was cold. To me, wool did not equal "cool" as either the fashion sense or how wool can feel on your body in warm temperatures.

But along came the Fausto jersey by Ibex to change my thinking on that. The first time I wore it was to go riding one of those freakish days in early spring when it is supposed to be cool, but suddenly the temperature shoots up. The high was forecast at 60 something, but it ended up being close to 80 by the time it was done.

"Great," I thought as I pedaled away wearing the Fausto jersey. "I dressed for March and got August instead," thoroughly expecting to sweat myself silly as I rode.

What I learned was first of all, what a nice jersey this is. It is obviously well-constructed, with deep pockets, solid seamwork and snappy design. Then I got an education on how well wool works in so many different temperatures. The Merino wool with Lycra-stretch blended in the Fausto jersey allows your body to breathe, letting air circulate around and through the jersey. The wool helps wick moisture away from your skin, pulling away sweat to create a dry and comfortable feel. It's not the fakie, clingy feeling that you get from a synthetic jersey when it gets damp.

If there was one thing I might change, it would be to relax the elastic at the bottom of the arms to let them ride more loosely lower on the arms. But that's a problem that I have with many jerseys, and I had no real complaints otherwise about the Fausto jersey to report.

All-in-all, I found many things to like about the Fausto. Ibex has done an outstanding job making a stylish, comfortable, well-constructed jersey. And I think you'll like it too.
