Guide Review - Boure Thermal Bib Tights/Knickers

Getting cycling wear from Boure is an experience that must be similar to what Bill and Melinda Gates or some other extraordinarily rich folk enjoy when they go clothes shopping. The people that you deal with from Boure are geniunely concerned that you get something that you are very, very happy with, and that will last you a long time. You sense that when you talk with them. You can see it in the construction of the product. It's all like that, only without the zillion dollar price tag.

As an example, when you call or email Boure to ask a question or place an order, you'll get their small shop in Durango, Colorado, the exact same place where the product is being sewn together. I asked for a sizing suggestion and how the thermal bib knickers were cut and if I should take my usual size or go one higher. In the course of that discussion, we worked through a sizing system that takes no fewer than five different measurements into account to determine a perfect fit: hips, weight, waist, inseam and height.

In the Boure thermal tights or knickers, a Thermolite-Roubaix fleece lycra is used in conjunction with a modified 8-panel design including articulated hips and knees to create the fit you want with no riding up, binding or bagginess. Back of the legs is made of a softer, thinner brushed Tactel/lycra to allow for a precise and comfortable experience behind your knees.

In terms of recommended temperature coverage, Boure suggests that the thermal tights/knickers are good for a range between 25-55 degrees fahrenheit. Though there is a lot of personal preference involved in this, I found that I got a bit chilly below 35 degrees or so with just a single layer, but that the thermal knickers worked great down into the teens as an under layer below a nylon outer shell. And on the warm side, I was able to wear them in the 70s too, with no problem.
