Equinox Helmet by Louis Garneau

About.com Rating 4

Equinox helmet Louis Garneau

The Bottom Line

The Equinox helmet by Louis Garneau is a terrific product. At $39.99, you get high-end performance at mid-level price. The Equinox has tons of ventilation, fits nicely, adjusts easily and looks great. It compares very favorably with much higher-end helmets like the Bell Sweep helmet, which at $130 costs about three times more. The main drawback with the Equinox is the exposed polystyrene at the helmet back, below the shell which is succeptible to gouges and nicks. It's normal for this price range though and one of the differences from the more expensive helmets. Just be a bit more careful and not chuck it around.

Guide Review - Equinox Helmet by Louis Garneau

In the Equinox, Louis Garneau has created a great all-around helmet. It is lightweight with lots of ventilation. It adjusts easily with just one hand needed even while you are wearing it with a simple dial that tightens or loosens as needed. The visor is removable, snapping on and off easily to fit your preference.

Though some website product listings categorize this somewhat misleadingly as a mountain bike helmet, the Equinox will work in virtually every situation. The combination of fit, comfort, technology and price means that is will be an attractive option no matter what you're considering it against, and stylewise, you'll be right at home no matter what kind of riding you prefer.
