George Hincapie Wins Tour of Missouri
George Hincapie sent Discovery Channel out in style on their last ride, taking the title of overall first place rider in the inaugural Tour of Missouri.
“I don’t know where this ranks in my career but the win is special,” said Hincapie, “For me, to win this race, which included the Tour de France champion (Alberto Contador) and Levi Leipheimer, who finished third in the Tour, is very special. It means a lot to win a big race like the Tour of Missouri as part of the Discovery Channel’s last race in the United States.”
Hincapie's Discovery Channel teammate, Levi Leipheimer won Stage Three, to match Hincapie's capture of Stage Two a day earlier. Ivan Dominguez of Toyota United took two stages, including the finale in St. Louis on Sunday, Sept. 16th. Versus TV will have a two hour recap of the entire Tour, scheduled for broadcast 4-6 pm on Saturday, Sept. 22nd, and again from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26th. Versus' listing does not indicate what time zone that is. Check specific Versus listings here.
