Portland, Oregon consistently ranks among the best cities in the United States for cyclists. It has bike culture, infrastructure that supports cycling and even an attitude among non-cyclists of recognition and support for their being co-owners of space on the street.
I recently had the chance to spend a week riding around Portland, and enjoyed discovering what PDX has to offer cyclists of all ability levels and riding styles. Stops for me included a donut shop that sells a hundred count order of donuts packaged in a mini-wooden coffin, plus a local university with a fleet of utility bikes for its maintenance workers and lawn care staff.
