When people think of the popular vacation spots like Destin and Fort Walton Beach along the Florida panhandle, white sand beaches and clear blue-green water are what often comes to mind first. It's true that the beaches are great and that you can have a lot of fun there.
However, if you're a nutty, in-too-deep cyclist like me, when you travel you also always think about how you can take your bike along and get some riding in too, even when you're far from home. And this was the case for a recent trip to Destin.
While the beaches are great there, the cycling can be tough. However, there are a few longer, nicer routes that I enjoyed that you might like riding too. Check out our review of cycling in the Destin/Fort Walton Beach area.
