For cyclists, few things can ruin the ride quicker than developing a rash or chafing in those sensitive areas. Not only can it be painful during the ride, but the time it takes to heal can keep you off the bike for days. Here's how to avoid those rashes and painful chafing that can develop when you ride.

Chamois cream is a real plus no matter what shorts you wear.
Its been my experience that saddle preferences are very personal. What works for someone else in the club doesn’t necessarily work for me. One of the best pieces of advice I can give you is to buy your seats from a retailer who gives you a full return policy. Do not buy a seat hoping it will work and end up stuck with something you don’t like.
By a Bi-saddle brand seat. They look a little strange but chafing, numbness rash, irritation will be eliminated. I had a broken tail bone from a mountain biking incident, could not ride for weeks. Saw the Bi-Saddle, ordered on, put it on the bike, immediatley went on a multi mile ride and have been riding the this saddle ever since. Now I have one on my road bike and my mountain bike.
I have had this problem in the Past on my Raleigh Bike that I use for Touring. Two of my Bikes have Brooks Saddles ,B 67, A Special Saddle for the Brompton B17 in Reddish Brown with Copper Rivets.
The Raleigh Saddle was a Plastic and Foam Gel and I got a Rash on the inside of my Thighs. So because I found the Brooks Leather Saddles marvelous I decided to get one for the Raleigh as well. A nice Black B 17 Champion Narrow Racing style Saddle. No problems since, even when the Saddle was New it was Great Relief. But now 6 Months later after occasional Dollops of Proofide Polish after each 100 Miles to Soften it on Three times and only very Seldom thereafter to keep it in condition it is very Comfortable and no Rash.
