Halfway Through, Cadel Evans atop Tour de France standings

Thursday July 17, 2008

Early Tour favorite Australian Cadel Evans (Silence-Lotto) held on to his lead and the yellow jersey after the conclusion of Stage 11 of the Tour de France, maintaining a one-second advantage over Luxembourger Frank Schleck (CSC-Saxo Bank) and 38 seconds ahead of Christian Vande Velde (Garmin-Chipotle) of the USA.

Having left the Pyrenees behind, the riders now look to the next few days of relatively easy, flat riding before the real climbing comes with a string of stages through the Alps.

Top ten riders, in the overall standings after 11 stages:

1. Cadel Evans (Aus), Silence-Lotto, 46:42:13
2. Frank Schleck (Lux), CSC-Saxo Bank, at 0:01
3. Christian Vande Velde (USA), Garmin-Chipotle, at 0:38
4. Bernhard Kohl (A), Gerolsteiner, at 0:46
5. Denis Menchov (Rus), Rabobank, at 0:57

Well you can change the top ten leader board. Riccardo Ricco just got caught using EPO and the entire Saunier-Duval has pulled out. When will the sport be rid of these parasites that have no reguard for cycling!!!
