I agree with you they look stupid. I hate wearing Helmets as you can feel the Weight on your Head and they do not provide any Protection in a crash with a Vehicle, only if you fall off your Bike.I do not think these Particular Helmets Provide any Improvements on Aerodynamics and they are very Bulky Looking and look uncomfortable.12.30 am Gmt 15/7/08 Ireland

If you have ever seen the difference in wind tunnels you would believe. They keep you in a comfortable position in the aero ones.
As for helmets in general, I have had 2 close calls and both I am sure the helmets helped. The helmet WILL help you in ANY crash. Think what you may but if you want to continue thinking wear a helmet.

Just like a Toyota Prius makes a driver look goofy! Function sometimes trumps form.

Helmets will not help against a car. That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard!!! If you want to become a vegetable be my guest, but do not go around telling people that helmets do not do anything unless you have some proof. I have proof that they work. 2 1/8″ gooseneck ball hitch in the back of a truck that would have punctured my skull had it not been for the HELMET I was wearing. In addition, I do not think that you are the trials champion of the world, so your balance is not so great that you never eat it at some point. Therefore, unless you just have a 1.5″ thick skull or you have more head damage than can be measured A HELMET WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE in accident evolving your head and any surface it may come into contact with. However, the aero helmets are very strange looking and do get a lot of looks, but they work.

I lost a good friend last year in a bicycle accident. He was not wearing a helmet, hit another cyclist, and fractured his skull.

Two days later he died… Don’t like a helmet, good for you.

John, the first time you have to watch a friend lying in a pool of blood, where his body has postured to keep it from hurting itself, and then watch a helicopter take your friend to the Hospital, you will where a helmet from then on.

Why fall for these fools about not wearing helmets? If they are stupid enough to ride a bike wihtout a helmet, have an accident and get killed, then natural selection has done it’s job. I am a firefighter/EMT and have to respond to many accidents yearly involving bicycles and cars, not too many cyclists come out the winner. Those wearing helmets generally fare better and do recover, those that don’t wear helmets, most don’t survive. I am glad I’m not the one who has to go to the family and infrom them of a “death” in the family. Generally I am angry because it could have been avoided, if they had just worn a helmet.

You should always wear a helmet. They don’t weigh any more than your brain, which it will protect when you fall or get hit.
