If you're riding on the road and see a nail or screw laying on the pavement, if you can do so safely, stop and pick it up.

You'll almost certainly save somebody a flat tire, either a motorist or another cyclist like yourself. Plus you''ll feel mighty good about the nice deed you just performed that no one but you will likely ever know about.
