17 Pro Teams from USA to Compete in 2008 UCI Racing

17 pro teams from the USA will take the field to compete in UCI sanctioned racing in 2008, USA Cycling announced earlier this month. That list includes 14 Continental squads who will primarily race stateside, two Professional Continental teams who are eligible to compete in events throughout the United States, Europe and other countries, and a single women's team.

The teams are:

Professional Continental - competing internationally

BMC Racing Team
Slipstream/Chipotle presented by H30

Continental squads - stateside

Team Health Net presented by Maxxis
Jelly Belly Pro Cycling Team
Colavita/Sutter Home presented by Cooking Light
Toyota-United Pro Cycling Team
Bissell Pro Cycling Team
Jittery Joe’s Professional Cycling Team
Kelly Benefit Strategies/Medifast Pro Cycling Team
Time Pro Cycling Team
Successful Living Pro Cycling Team
Rock Racing
DLP Professional Cycling Team
Rite Aid Pro Cycling Team
Team Type 1
Toshiba-Aerospace Engineering Pro Cycling Team presented by Herbalife

The sole UCI-sanctioned women’s team from the USA this season is the Webcor Builders Women’s Professional Cycling Team.

With the Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team folding up last fall, the United States will be without a UCI ProTour squad for the 2008 season.
