Adventure Cycling Association Announces 2008 Tours

Tuesday November 27, 2007

The Adventure Cycling Association has released its list of tours for 2008. You'll find 44 different tours -- both supported and self-contained -- rolling through some of the most beautiful places in the United States and Canada. Tours start as early as February and March with warm weather trips in California, Arizona and Texas, and continue through the year with rides in all parts of the country for cyclists of varying abilities, including several rides desinged intentionally for families.

All the routes sound interesting to me, but in particular, how about riding the north rim of the Grand Canyon and the Red Rocks of western Colorado and southern Utah. Or the Pacific Coast? The ACA even offers several months-long cross-country trips that traverse great portions of the U.S.

If you've ever considered embarking on such a trip, but weren't sure how to get started, going with an experienced guide and a bunch of other interesting people is definitely the way to do it. Start by checking out ACA's 2008 slate of tours.

Side note: if you're not familiar with the Adventure Cycling Association, it is a terrific organization. Founded as a non-profit in 1973 to introduce more people to cycling, the ACA has over 42,500 members. In addition to organizing tours, the ACA also reseaches and develops fabulous cross-country bike routes and then produces maps to show the way, as well as organizing education and outreach programs to encourage more cycling among people of all ages.
